New Jersey Moving Forward with Permitting Restrictions

New Jersey has changed their permit requirements and it is causing extreme difficulties for cleaners to operate.  New requirements include testing procedures and mandatory equipment for leak detection.  The new permits also call for extremely stringent restrictions on solvent use.

The changes promulgated are only the first step.  The Department is planning to go forward with its intention of phasing out the use of perc all together.  NEFA/IFI is working closely with NCA and other advocates to challenge the Department’s stance.  Industry officials will be meeting with the DEP May 16th to discuss possible options and alternatives.

NEFA will keep members posted on all activities.  Register your e-mail address at www.nefabricare.com for the most timely e-mail updates for all NEFA activities.
