Massachusetts DEP Annual Compliance Bills

Cleaners throughout the Commonwealth have been getting their bills for their annual compliance fees. NEFA has had numerous calls regarding which fees are applicable to their businesses. Every drycleaner in the state that is subject to filing the Environmental Results Program Certification (ERP) form is subject to a $250 fee. In most cases this will be the only fee they are responsible for.

Plants that use hydrocarbon or Green Earth may be subject to an Air Quality Permit Fee and/or a Small Quantity Generator fee. The ERP program eliminated these fees from most Perc drycleaners and actually reduced the compliance fees for these cleaners. If you have received a bill from the state, and you aren,Äôt sure whether you are required to pay it, call Peter Blake at the NEFA Office (800-442-6848).

As a reminder: all perc cleaners were required to fill out ERP forms last September. NEFA has had a handful of calls recently from members who have been inspected or notified by the Department of missing forms. Make sure you have your latest form on premises!
